Sport Islington is the voice for voluntary sport in Islington. Sport Islington assists clubs & organisations to increase awareness, participation, competition and sporting opportunities within Islington.
About the Sport Islington Grant Fund
The grant aid is seeking to encourage and develop participation in sport at all levels and by all sections of the community. It is important that applications highlight the benefits to the community, particularly how it will increase participation and prove why it needs financial assistance.
The fund is intended to support:
- 1.Clubs
- 2.Individuals (but these applications must be supported by the County or Regional organising committee or National Governing Body)
- 3.Community groups
- 4.Youth groups
- 5.Coaches, managers and Administrators
Sport Islington have four funding rounds per year: January-March, April-June, July-September and October-December. The deadline for applying is the last day of the month within each round. The Sport Islington Committee meet the following week after the deadline date to review all of the applications. Applicants will only be awarded once per financial year; April-April and once within any 12 month period. The Sport Islington committee will award a maximum of five grants to individuals from a single club per financial year.

Sport Islington will only consider grant applications from clubs/ teams/ organisations participating in sports which have recognised governing bodies, please see the list of National Governing Bodies in the useful links page. Affiliation to a governing body (e.g. Rugby to the Rugby Football Union) is preferable but not compulsory.
Sport Islington holds an AGM after the end of the financial year (31/03). As a member of Sport Islington you are entitled to attend and stand as a member of the committee, positions available include; Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and Committee member. as a member of the organisational board you are expected to attend the four grant review meetings each year and be available for general administration tasks as determined throughout the year.
