Aloysius Students receive Awards

Sport Islington has just awarded £2,500 to 5 talented sportsmen from St. Aloysius College.  The cheque was presented to the boys by Lianne Sanderson, Chelsea Ladies F.C. and England striker. The boys each applied for a grant to help them with their expenses to continue training at representative level in their chosen sport.  ‘, ‘Nol Kim-Ngwamah, Central Defender for Southend United F.C. U16’s, said “This money will go a long way to help cover the cost of my travel expenses to get to training and matches.”  Whilst Stephen O’Hara, Central Defender for Leyton Orient F.C. U16’s, said “The grant will help take the pressure off my parents having to finance everything for me to play football.” Benjamin Nkossi, a shooting guard for Islington Panthers U14’s and England Basketball U15’s, was thankful for the funding to help cover the expensive costs of training camps for the National Team.  Bobson Bawling, a right midfielder for Chelsea F.C. U13’s, mother Katie Turay said “The grant is a real blessing, as Bobson’s equipment and travel costs are mounting up.  It’s been a bit of a struggle lately trying to pay for everything in the household.” Adam Forrester, QPR F.C. U14’s Central Defender, is looking forward to using his £500 grant to buy some much needed new equipment.  Declan Hamblin, Secretary of Sport Islington said, “It’s a real easy system we have now for individuals and clubs to apply for funding.  All applicants need to do is visit www.sportislington.co.uk and fill in the short online form.
