The Award Ceremony kicked off with guest speaker Darren Cheesman, GB hockey Player, who gave entertaining account of his days training as a young person across different venues in Islington. Cheesman discovered hockey through Arsenal FC’s ‘Sport in the Community’ programme that sees the football club send coaches into local schools and communities to teach them various sports. As an 8 year old Darren thought he was at the starting blocks for a career as a professional Football player. Darren’s concluding words; ‘try something new’ inspired the crowd who were eager to find out the results of the awards.
